The 5th iteration of Crushed Matrices, performed at Basilica Hudson's 24-Hour Drone event on April 28, 2019.
For this performance, Blue attached the shards of broken crystal singing bowls to their body using silver tape, and dragged the shards through the aisles of the performance floor and around the perimeter of the 6,000 square foot main hall. Anastasia was stationed with electronics and intact singing bowls in the center of the hall. Most of the audience was laying on the floor, as shown in the photograph.
This is an ad-hoc recording of a live performance made on a handheld recording device, so close-proximity coughing, shuffling, and whispering are not a part of the musical materials of the piece. The bird who takes a solo at around 37 minutes is, however, welcome to join the band.
At the end of the recording, the Hudson Valley Shakuhachi Choir makes a cameo, as our sets overlapped at this live event.
